The New Jersey Municipal Courts handle over six million cases a year. More people will pass through the New Jersey Municipal Court than any other New Jersey Court. Driving while intoxicated, driving on a revoked license, disorderly person offenses, ordinances violations, domestic violence and parking cases are all processed through the Municipal Court.
Despite this massive volume of cases, most people know little about their rights and choices in dealing with the stress of a Municipal Court case.
As a former Municipal Court Judge (Mount Holly, New Jersey 1983 - 1987 and Riverside, New Jersey 1993 - 1997), I watched unrepresented Defendants make wrong decisions simply because they did not know what their choices were.
I frequently suggested that Defendants would be better off with an attorney. Going to Court without a lawyer is a lot like going to a hospital for surgery without a doctor.
If you have received a summons or a ticket in Municipal Court, please let me help you make wise choices to minimize or eliminate adverse results.
